Thermodynamics Introduction
Aim Of Thermodynamics
The Aim of Thermodynamic study is to convert disorganised form of energy[HEAT] into organised form of energy[WORK] most efficiently.
It is the science of energy transfer and its effect on the properties of the system.
Thermo = Heat convert to Energy
Dynamic = Motion
Combination of both is THERMODYNAMICS
Dynamic = Motion
Combination of both is THERMODYNAMICS
Basic Concept
- System - It si the region in space upon which study is focussed.
- Surroundings - Everything external to the the system.
- Boundry - It is seperation b/w the system and surroundings.
Note:- Boundary may be rigid or flexible.
Types of System
(1) Open System - pansfer of MASS and Heat.Examle-Turbine, Pump, Compressor,etc.
(2) Closed System - Only pansfer of Heat.It is also known as Non-Flow System.Example - Closed tiffin box(metal).
(3) Isolated System - No pansfer.Example - Universe
